62 cars will contest the 92nd running of the event
The World Endurance Championship has revealed a jam-packed entry list for the 2024 Le Mans 24 Hours.
62 cars will line up for the 92nd running of the event, including 23 cars in the top tier Hypercar class, meaning it’s very likely that it will become one of the most competitive races in terms of outright victory for many years.
The most eye-catching element of the Hypercar class is that Porsche Penske Motorsport will run a third car in the race, but F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel - who had tested the car a few weeks ago - will not form part of its lineup.
Instead, its third car will consist of Mathieu Jaminet, Felipe Nasr and Nick Tandy.
Felipe Drugovich will also join the Hypercar class to make his debut at Le Mans, driving the #311 Cadillac.
The Le Mans 24 Hours will also host the return of LMP2 machines alongside Hypercars for the first time since they were dropped from the World Endurance Championship.
16 LMP2 cars will line up for the race start, including two United Autosports entries.
Like the hypercar class, 23 cars will contest the LMGT3 class, with two McLarens taking part for the first time since 1998.
